Oral story telling is the oldest form of communication.
It has existed since the beginning of time.
How do you get the ideas out of your head?
The purpose of this guide is to help bring the creative spark within you to life.
You don't need a lot of money to get an idea out there.
You just need a creative idea, along with some hardwork and dedication.
HOW TO GET STARTED?
The most important first step is to get your thoughts out of your subconscious mind.
Find a quiet space where you can sit and think without being distracted.
Maybe listen to some creative music to get inspired.
And then speak your mind. Don't over think it.
The first attempt might not be good. It might be terrible. But at least you're getting your ideas out.
You can always record or write a better version later.
The important thing is just to experiment with different methods and see what works best for you.
SPEAK INTO WHAT?
That's up to you. You can use your phone.
More people have phones than computers. And most phones come with inbuilt audio/video recording software.
Though we would recommend a laptop and a webcam.
More details below.
AUDIO RECORDING
We would recommend audio recording instead of video recording for people just starting out.
This is easier because you don't have to worry about how you look everytime you want to get an idea recorded.
It is possible to record an audio file and post it straight to a website without any editing or frills.
You don't need an expensive piece of equipment to get your thoughts out to the world.
The truth has power. Even those without a lot of money or fame can communicate an important message.
There are many low cost/free options available today.
More details below.
DISCLAIMER: We're not saying the items below are the only content available.
This is just a small collection of products that have been recommended to us.
Many people today just record their thoughts straight to an app.
Or they make a video on their phone and then post it on an app or website.
There are also free apps you can record with.
RECORDING ON THE PHONE
Make a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone (Apple Support)
Samsung Voice Recorder (Google Play)
DEFAULT APP ON IPHONE
Voice Memos (App Store)
This is a default app in the iPhone utilities.
It records in the m4a format by default.
It does not seem to come with an audio converter.
You can share this file to your email or social media in the same way you would share a picture off of your phone.
VOICE RECORD PRO
Voice Record Pro records in the m4a format by default.
Voice Record Pro has an advanced audio converter that can convert your audios to MP3s.
You can save these MP3s on your phone, email them, save to iCloud, post on YouTube, or several other options.
Voice Record Pro (Apple Store)
Voice Record Pro (Google Play)
"VOICE RECORDER" ON WINDOWS 10
This is free software that may come with your computer.
It is fairly simple to use.
The file will save in an m4a format.
If you have a website, you can upload this file directly to your website and then put a link to it.
The bit rate of the saved files is about 170 kbps
How to use Windows "Voice Recorder" (Microsoft Support)
You can record content on your phone or computer and upload it to the following sites.
Most laptop computers come with built in webcams these days. Simply find the webcam program on your laptop's desktop, open it and click the record button to get started.
Most audio recording software will recognize your webcam's microphone.
If your computer doesn't have a built in webcam, or you would like a better one, check out the following links below. Most desktop computers don't have built in webcams.
NOTE: Even if you already have a built in webcam, it is still possible to add another one or a better microphone.
Also, most audio programs will automatically use your built in webcam unless you specify otherwise.
